Embracing A Simpler Time This Christmas
December 8, 2020

The Holiday Season is upon us and due to the unpredictable nature of COVID-19, many of us are wondering how that will affect the Holiday’s. If the restrictions are still in place, that can mean a completely different Christmas than our past experiences. Although it will be altered, it can still be magical. Perhaps it will be like Christmas long ago, less extravagant but perfect in its simplicity. Regardless of whether you live alone or with your family, there are many things you can do to make this Holiday Season memorable and enjoyable. A few of these ways are discussed below.
One way to create a more festive and merry ambiance is to decorate your house. It is a simple way to lift your spirits. You can diffuse some Essential Oils to complement your décor and to help alleviate stress, anxiety or to elevate your mood. Essential oils like Frankincense and Myrrh help prevent sickness, anxiety and stress. Pine not only smells like a Christmas tree, but also helps with respiratory problems, stress reduction and pain relief. Cinnamon not only gives your house a warm and welcoming scent, but is also a great anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-bacterial agent. There are many more Essential Oils that have great healing qualities that you can also choose from.
Another delicious way to spend time is to do some holiday baking. There is something almost magical about it, as many of us have fond memories of baking with our parents or grandparents. Baking from scratch can also be cathartic and a great stress reliever. It can be a very calming process as you are focusing solely on the recipe and decorating. It is also something you can give as a gift or keep to enjoy.
If you are unable to host Christmas dinner due to the current restrictions, there are still options for spending time together. The most obvious is virtually. Thankfully technology has provided a viable outlet to help us connect and visually see our friends and family members this Christmas. You are able to share gift opening, dinner, drinks or even play a board game. It is the next best thing to being together. Another option, if you live close to your friends or family is to get together outdoors. You could meet in a park, go ice skating, tobogganing or have a fire in your yard. It is a great way to get back to basics and see your loved ones at the same time.
Finally, let’s talk about self care. It is easy to worry about everyone else this time of year, however, you still need to focus on yourself. Take some time to do your nails, your hair, your make up or a craft. There are many little things you can do from the comfort of your home. If you have been feeling depressed or anxious, self care is vitally important right now.
It is easy to give into the negativity that is permeating our society right now. There are so many things that have been taken from us. It is equally as easy to turn it into positivity though, with a little creativity. This blog has listed a few things you can do to enhance your Christmas season. We truly are blessed and that should be celebrated.
