Moods of Stalking: Our Actions and Intuition

The Moods of Stalking are described by Carlos Casteneda as an expression of doing and creating, in his book The Power of Silence and The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge. In the third installment of our five part series, we will discuss how the moods of stalking are an integral part of our personalities. They are based on the stories we create from our belief systems. Although there are four, we only choose two moods as we learn to interact in the world. These moods and stories shape both our ego character and the way we view or perceive the world around us. Depending on the selected moods, our body structure and core personality can come from either a place of darkness (dark side) or light (light side).    

Listed below are some basic descriptions of the four moods of stalking personalities, as described in Jan Orsi and Thunder Strikes book Song of the Deer: The Great Sundance Journey of the Soul . See if you can identify your natural way of operating.  

• A giving and pure authenticity.
• Emotional fluidity.
• Can be very foolish and give power away.
• Easily lead into addiction.

• Passion and excitement for life.
• Equal balance in determining or directing energy. Acceptance of what is in the moment.
• Avoidance of responsibility.
• Prejudiced and judgmental.

• Able to see many viewpoints and high awareness.
• Good sense of humor and less serious.
• Can be cruel with a rigid point of view.
• Inner dialogue is always trying to rationalize a decision.

• Perfect health and persevere to not be a quitter.
• Being able to use it with pain of any kind - in all aspects of self.
• Harshness and greed in order to manipulate.
• Gains at the expense of others.

Our ego character, combined with our moods and stories, often allows us to hide from our true or innate self. We tend to create a perception of reality that we can identify with, based on those stories. This will continue until we gain an understanding of our nature and how our ego character has been molded and programmed by our surroundings. This encompasses our social and environmental surroundings as well as our family lineage and ancestors. The ultimate goal is to erase the past stories, heal, and re-write our destiny. So, how do we accomplish this? 

When we combine free will with an awareness of our ego character’s survival instincts, we can find the light side that exists within. This is the pure openness of heart, love and compassion. When we find this light, we will begin to hear our intuition clearly. This will occur when we stop putting so much energy into trying to survive rather than creating beauty and light.
