The Journey to Self-Love!

The journey to loving yourself is a constant balance of awareness, observation and correction. These are 3 of the Biggest Mistakes one should be aware of so they can modify their behavior and increase their chance of success:
  1. Measuring your success on the values of others and not your own.
  2. Not allowing yourself to experience where you are in the moment.
  3. Not trusting your own truth. What is the bottom line and what are your boundaries?

There is a prevailing misconception that if you attend to your mental, physical and spiritual needs first (or self-love), then that somehow equates to being selfish. This is misguided, for you cannot help yourself or others if you are not your authentic self. Indeed you cannot be your authentic self if you do not love yourself. This is why self-love needs to be a priority. If you are experiencing difficulty with attaining self-love, there could be reasons which are unclear to you at present. Perhaps there are some buried or forgotten emotions that are responsible for not allowing you to reach your full potential on your journey towards truly loving yourself.

If you cannot believe in yourself or feel negative emotions when you look in the mirror and say “I love you”, then there may be an emotion that needs to be heard, felt, understood, realized or conveyed to your conscious self and your body. Over time, this builds up and there can also be remnants from other lifetimes or experiences brought into your current life.  

So, how can you learn to love yourself? A very important place to start is to stop the negative thinking and dialogue that take away from your happiness. Whenever you feel yourself give into these detrimental traits, turn it around. Literally turn your negative thoughts into positive thoughts. You can start by saying a positive mantra in the morning before you start your day. This can include; “Today will be great because…” or “Today I am looking forward to…”. It will subtly change your inner dialogue and promote positive thinking.   

It takes practice and affirmations are a huge way to start to hear positive vibration emotions versus negative vibration emotions. Negative or lower vibration emotions include feelings of fear, anger, shame or frustration. Positive or higher vibration emotions include happiness, joy, excitement or peace. The only way to enact positive change is from within. We can change our realities very quickly and easily by moving to a place of neutrality and then working towards the higher vibration emotions.

These few small steps will assist you on your quest to self-love. There will always be things in your life that you cannot control but you can actively choose to pursue that which will bring you the greatest amount of joy. If you have challenges, then energy work is key to unlocking blockages to your progress that you may be unaware of. The Akashic record is one way to explore what is impeding your progress and why, on a conscious or physical level. A trained energy practitioner can assist you in accessing your Akashic Record. You can learn these skills as well!  

Energy body treatments like massage, raindrop therapy, hot stone, chiropractic, rolfing, reiki and shamanic sessions are also a viable alternative. Remember, we are all energy and there are many ways to work within the energy field. Even our chakras can help determine what has been or what remains that you are still here to learn. Every birthday after the age of 14, you start to recycle through 1 to 7 chakras. As an example, age 14, it would be the root, and then at 15 it would be the sacrum, and at age 16 the solar plexus and so on. I look back at my teen-age years and whoa that was an interesting time of learning and experiences. These were all charted out for me to learn and grow from and I am still learning and growing. I balance my inner wheel each day through meditation and self healing.
