Inner Work: Attachment
October 15, 2021

Attachment can be a feeling we experience in certain situations as well as a physical connection to a person, place or thing. It may seem harmless to become attached, especially if you are nurturing and comforting by nature, but it is not. The harm arises when a stronger emotion such as fear dims our intuitive voice and effectively shadows our perception of reality. This can lead the amygdala, the part of the brain that is responsible for the fight or flight response, to perceive a problem and attempt to resolve it. While we are engaged in fight or flight, the amygdala also has the ability to overtake our intuition. If this occurs, it is not detrimental for there can be harmony between our intuition and the amygdala, if we allow for non-attachment.
While attachment tends to cloud our intuitive
decision making and keep us entangled in immediate emotional gratification, non-attachment serves to relieve this by creating calm and reassurance that is free from any fears of who we may become. When we are free from attachments, we can implement coping mechanisms and that is when our intuitive voice can be clearly heard. We can accomplish non-attachment by identifying, healing and releasing the emotions associated with the attachment. Although the process is long and arduous, it is necessary if we truly desire to reach intuitive excellence.
Attachment often results in energy loss and that is the biggest hurdle or challenge we face on our journey towards intuitive excellence. It is because we have created “stories” about the attachment(s) and these stories create an identity of who we perceive ourselves to be. Once we recognize this, we can release the emotion that is no longer serving us and regain our intuitive voice. We must strive to embrace a state of non-attachment, for when we are finally free of attachment, we are finally free to reach Complete Intuitive Excellence
and experience a more magical life.
