History of Reiki

The Western History of Reiki

Mikao Usui from Japan began a quest for the lost Reiki in the late 1800’s.  He wound up in a Zen Buddhist monastery where he found the texts describing the healing formula, which he could read after studying Sanskrit for many years.  The texts didn’t include information on how to activate the energy and make it work. Obscuring the Sutras was intentional.  Mikao went through a 3-week period mediation, fasting and prayer on Mt. Koriyama in Japan.  On the last day, light struck his third eye, giving information on each of the symbols and how to activate them.  It was a psychic rediscovery of an ancient method. It is also believed to be from Buddha.
